The new kid

I seriously don’t fit into the blog world. I’ve been trying to see what’s out there and make my way through this labyrinth called the blogosphere but honestly, I don’t get it. Most blogs that I am reading have a section on their page that lists all the blogs they read. And there are like 50 listings! Who has time to read 50 blogs? Seriously?

This is how I felt when I started Franklin Elementary school and this boy, Oh Lord, I can’t believe I remember his name. His name was Knox. Yes, that was back in like 1980. He catcalled me on the playground and sang the song to me, Shake Your Booty. Oh yes, he did. I was maybe 8. I may still need therapy, come to think of it.

Anyway, I didn’t know what a booty was at the time. And I certainly didn’t know how to shake it. Well, this is how I feel in the blog world. I don’t know how to shake my booty. I don’t read 50 blogs a day. I don’t know how to get people to come to my site, I don’t get spam, I hear that will happen eventually and there are scads of ways to eradicate it. I don’t even have a catchy name! I just thought, well I guess I’ll just use my own name because that’s what people know. I was grasping at straws.

And then there’s the question of what you all like to read. My sermonette the other day went down like a herd of turtles, and my post about Paula White was a hit. Go figure.

So yeah, I’m the new kid, I’ve got a lot to learn, but I really appreciate you guys for reading. It makes me very happy to think that you are at least interested enough to keep coming back to check it out.

Oh, and one more thing, can I have the day off on Sundays? Maybe just write a couple of lines? I don’t know. What do you think?

  1. Your comment, “And then thereโ€™s the question of what you all like to read. My sermonette the other day went down like a herd of turtles, and my post about Paula White was a hit. Go figure.” hit me.

I posted a verse on facebook, which I do regularly, and had some one write me book about how it touched her life at that moment. She asked how I choice it and I was like, “well…it just stuck out at me so I posted” but I have come to realize that God uses everything in his timing.

My point is that we never know what people really like or need. We just try to follow our heart and write/post what impacts us and allow God to use it how ever he wants.

    Keep up the great writing.

  2. Hi Juli, I think you definitely should take Sunday’s off…. and pray about taking Saturdays off too! There has to be family time, God time and time to just regroup and take a breath. Most people only work 5 days a week anyway.
Just a thought here….. ask the Lord for some messages to store up on hand for those days you just aren’t feeling it. That way you won’t feel obligated to write something even when your not getting anything from the Lord for what ever the reason that day. Just go to your file and ask the Lord which one is for today! Sometimes its timing with the Lord …a message from a few days ago put in storage could be just what the people need for this day. Remember to let the Holy Spirit lead, relax and have fun with it. Its not suppose to be frustrating. If it is and your feeling drained than your not doing something right. Of course you knew that… sorry I don’t mean to preach. I just wrote what came to my mind.
Anyway, to let you know what I have been bless from… the bull dog faith, bird poop, Dory come to mind. But many others too I just don’t remember the titles. I like the preachy ones and how you take everyday life and make a sermon-net out of it. That is only from God because not everyone can do that! You will find your niche… don’t worry… just let the Holy Ghost lead you and resist the tendency to lean on your own understanding! Love ya sis! Your friend in Christ, Cindy

  3. Juli – does a blog have to be an everyday thing? I’m just askin’ cuz I started up a blog over a year ago…and have less than a dozen posts myself. I must be just pacing myself. ๐Ÿ™‚ Seriously, I look forward to your blogs/thoughts, but don’t feel obligated to write every day. Or at least, every other. Just go with it. All of your blog-followers will read whenever you do post…don’t sweat it. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thanks, Jen. I have tried to write something everyday just as a discipline really. I felt like it was something I needed to do as part of the “stepping out in faith” process. I talk about it in my first couple of blogs. ๐Ÿ™‚ I don’t know where this is gonna go, but it’s been fun. Thanks for reading!

  4. Rest on Sunday but write about what happened on Sunday On Monday! I don’t want to miss a great story about “a funny thing happened on the way to church.” We didn’t go – bought PINK CAMO sunglasses instead!!
So funny!!! You make me think of all those years on the road trying to find the church we were speaking at! Thank God now we have GPS!!
    Love ya!
