I am in love. I am in love with this pillow. I am in love with waking up in the morning without feeling 90 years old. I am in love with being able to turn my head both ways! It’s the little things that make me happy.
I was thinking, if all it takes to make me happy is a pillow? My husband is a lucky man.
What makes you happy? What are the little things in your life that just make your day better? For me, it’s Diet Dr. Pepper, Starbucks, and this pillow. It’s amazing how just a little drive-thru coffee can make life so much better. I had a status update on my Facebook once that said all I need is God and Starbucks. Sure that’s a gross understatement, but I honestly make it through life’s difficulties with those two things.
In all seriousness, I am a very simple person. At least I see myself that way. I happen to love writing this blog. It gives me a great sense of accomplishment. I am also a list-maker and a task-doer. I feel lost as a goose until I start making my way down the list and get more “dones” than “undones.” Honestly, I start to feel lighter when I can see the end of a list of tasks approaching. Just like I start to feel lighter when I get to the meat of an idea on this blog and I see it start coming together. That really makes me happy! If I can wrap a thought up, neat and tidy, and put a bow on it, I get a great sense of accomplishment.
My husband is not a task-oriented guy, he’s a visionary. He’s an idea man. And he’s a thinker. If I gave him a list of things to do, he would just cringe… and stare off into the distance planning his escape route. And trust me, he is masterful at getting out of tasks. He is gifted. He is not the task man! He is not the guy that does all the honey-do’s. But if you need someone to think you out of a crisis? He’s your man. If you need a set of broad and wise shoulders to guide you through a storm, he’s that guy. Lynn is so incredibly insightful, he astounds me. He can think of 18 scenarios and solutions in the blink of an eye, before I can even wrap my brain around the problem. That’s just his gift. I can’t find my way out of a paper bag.
I’m telling you all of this in hopes that you will take a look at yourself and consciously try to pinpoint what makes you tick, what gives you that sense of accomplishment, that feeling of fulfillment, and go do it! I know there are areas that I need to work on, but my personality and basic framework of my way of doing and being came from God. I am endeavoring to be the woman who He designed me to be, and to put the gifts and talents He gave me to good use. I encourage you to do the same!
