A prayer for my puppy

If you’ve read this blog more than once, you are probably aware of my second child, my furbaby, my bubba… Samson. Sammy is our 4-year-old American Bulldog who brings more love and joy to our family than you can imagine.

Our bubba has been in the vet hospital this week with an unknown issue in his tummy. He has been submitted to lots of tests and tomorrow he will undergo a more invasive endoscopy to take a look inside. My apologies for than unpleasant imagery.

I have prayed for my puppy a lot. I have also questioned myself and my faith on whether you can believe God for healing for a pet. I have mulled on this for days and a smarter person than me, a more theological person, could educate me thoroughly, but here’s what I know.

God cares about what I care about. The Lord will complete that which concerns me. Psalm 138:8 I care about the health of my dog, and I love him very much.

My hands and my prayers carry power. …They will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover. Mark 16:18 I have laid my hands on him and prayed the prayer of faith.

The power of Biblical agreement is boundless.  …If two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. Matthew 18:18 I have many people close to me standing in agreement that Sammy is healed.

I do not care how God does it, but I believe that His healing work has begun in my puppy. I will take him for his tests tomorrow, they will get to the bottom of it, they will successfully treat him, and he will come home, safe and sound.

And God will get the glory.

  1. Juli, I am in 100% agreement with you that God DOES care what you care about and that DOES include our pets!! I will be praying for Sammy, as well. Yes, God’s healing power IS working in Sammy as we speak and he IS healed, whole, and will be home SOON! Please keep us posted.

  2. Julie…..of course our Heavenly Father cares about and heals our animals…..we had a shepherd puppy years ago….we had just gotten saved and learning about the Lord….he got very sick and my boys were very little…..just so happened that it was a night we were going to church and I told the boys to ask the pastor to pray for our puppy…they did and he said no!!!!!!!!!!!!! But…. said…you go pray for it….he said he had a pig once that was sick and he prayed for it and the Lord healed it…..well we had prayed for it before we had left for church and when we got home he was running around the house….it was a big lesson for us…..that dog lived for many years and today I still love it. God is love and …. what we have for those animals that He created is love!!!! He created them for our pleasure and because He knew that we needed them to love and needed their love back…….I have read in books that God sent sick or wounded animals to people of faith so that they could be prayed for and cared for………..I will pray with you for your puppy!!!!! Willie George years ago taught kids to pray for animals….he said it was a good way to learn to believe God….I agree!!!!!

  3. Our loving Heavenly Father cares about everything that pertains to His children. He would not have given us this scripture in Proverbs if He didn’t care about our pets. If it is important to you it is important to Him. Just like every little thing Jaxon goes through is so very important to you, how much more your Abba Daddy. Jerry and I are in agreement that all is well with Samson in Jesus name. We know exactly how you feel, God has used our dog to bring us closer together and he has given us so much pleasure. We have never laughed so much together before we got our dog. I actually want a whole pack like Cesar, the Dog Whisperer has 🙂 Love you. While Terry was just here he commented on how much you meant to Jackie and how you have been as much of a daughter as his own. Our prayers continue to be with you to heal your hearts. We love you. Proverbs 12:10 New Living Translation (NLT) 10The godly care for their animals, but the wicked are always cruel.

Kathy God is a good God and He loves you!
